Nazaj na arhivTiling is a mathematical concept dealing with covering the entire plane by tiles. Using neither
equations nor numbers, we will explore very special types of tilings and their properties.
Surprising applications in material sciences have been found, leading to newly-invented
materials, having unique useful properties. This lecture is a continuation of the previous
(“From Crystals to Bees to Fish-Reptiles”), and will include an introduction for those who
missed the first one. (Spoiler: What does tiling have to do with fishes, reptiles and Albert
Einstein? Well, nothing…)
