Iridium
From outer space down into deep underground rock layer, back to the dinosaur era, and again up to space (and your Smartphone): We will conduct this amazing voyage discussing the chemical element iridium.
Iridium, the 77th element of the periodic table, is abundant in the sixty five million- year- old rock layer containing the fossil remnants of the last dinosaurs. Iridium is also the name of nearly one hundred satellites orbiting Earth. What do dinosaurs have to do with iridium and what does iridium have in common with this satellite network? Let's see!
